A display specifically for children will take place at 7pm with colourful fireworks but less noisy bangs for sensitive little ears. The main main firework display will take place at 8:30pm which will be spectacular as usual. Gates open at 6:00pm and there will be caterers supplying food and hot drinks from opening time till closing. *People attending the Crystal Palace fireworks should be aware that parking will not be available on site. More about Crystal Palace fireworks Displays This event continues a very fine tradition of events that first took place in this park on July 12 1865, with a competition between British Firework makers. The event was a great success, attracting 20,000 spectators, and regular shows were staged at Crystal Palace up to 1936, when the Palace was destroyed by fire. It is estimated that 2,000 displays had been held on the site over that period of seventy years – attracting over 30 million visitors from all parts of the world. Some say that Crystal Palace is the home of Fireworks Displays in this country. Since then firework displays have been held annually and the 2017 event continues a fine tradition of Celebrating Guy Fawkes Night with two sensational Fireworks Displays. Remember, remember the Fifth of November, The Gunpowder Treason and Plot, I know of no reason why Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot.
