Fireworks Night and FIDO Display | IWM Duxford

This November, join us for a family fireworks display for Guy Fawkes Night on Duxford's historic airfield. 

Bring along the family and have fun on fairground rides, fill your bellies at the food stalls and see incredible aircraft in our hangars and performing engine runs on the airfield. Witness a FIDO display, before we light up the night sky in a sea of colour with fireworks.

Hangars 1 and 2 will also be open to give you a chance to discover some of the incredible aircraft housed at Duxford.

What is FIDO?

Before the fireworks, we'll be recreating FIDO. Fido was Britain's Fog Investigation and Dispersal Operation, used in the Second World War to clear fog from airfields so aircraft could land safely. 

Lighting up the sides of the runway in a spectacular line of flames, FIDO warmed the air over the runway, clearing the fog, allowing heavy bombers returning from raids to land safely. We believe this to be the first recreation of FIDO since the system was officially retired in 1960.

Free parking

Free parking at IWM Duxford is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. We recommend booking early to secure your car parking space, add your free parking pass during the booking process.

Photography packages

Visitors can book premium photography packages. Get early access from 4pm and a Duxford in a Different Light event in Hangar 1, where aircraft will be illuminated in coloured lights for unique photography opportunities. 

Then, enjoy a priority viewing area, with airside access for the aircraft engine runs and a unique chance to capture these aircraft at night.
